419 Fourth Avenue
(1914): Young-Almas Home.
Havre vice king C.W. “Shorty” Young built this Spanish style home to
reflect his wealth and place in Havre’s history. Mr. Young owned
saloons of varying reputation as well as brothels. He turned to
bootlegging during the era of Prohibition. This home was once the site
of many gatherings. In 1919, Dr. Almas, Havre’s first doctor, and his
wife Georgiana bought the home. The Thompson family bought the home a
few years ago and completely updated and preserved the home, earning
them a 1999 Havre Historic Preservation Award.
