Public Comment Notice

The Montana State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) invites public comment relating to SHPO’s Revitalizing Montana’s Rural Heritage (RMRH) grant program. This program is supported through a grant from the Historic Revitalization Subgrant Program and Historic Preservation Fund, as administered by the National Park Service, Department of Interior.

Under RMRH, SHPO proposes to fund nine (9) historic preservation projects across Montana.

The Fort Assinniboine Preservation Association (FAPA) and the Montana State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) will hold a public meeting to receive public comment relating to SHPO’s proposed Revitalizing Montana’s Rural Heritage program grant for the Officer’s Amusement Hall Rehabilitation project. The Officer’s Amusement Hall is located at 3848 Fort Circle, Havre, MT (Hill County, S28, T32 N, R15 E, All Less NWNE, Fort Assinniboine) The grant would assist in rehabilitating the building’s roof and interior including the floor and stage.

The public meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 29th, 2021 at 4pm. Interested public can attend the meeting in person at the Timmons Room in the Hill County Courthouse, 315 4th St., Havre, MT; or can attend via online teleconference meeting, the details for which are below.

Additionally, the public can provide comments between December 20, 2020 and January 21, 2021 by calling 406-444-7715, emailing RMRHSHPO@mt.gov, or sending written comments to Montana SHPO, 1301 E. Lockey St. Box 201202, Helena, MT 59620. Comments must be submitted to the Montana SHPO no later than midnight, January 29, 2021.

The public comment period for seven of the RHRH was open between June 14, 2020 through 5 pm on July 14, 2020. A public meeting for those seven projects took place on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at noon. The public meeting minutes and video are available here:
